Well, well, well…look who’s finally come back to carry on with The Midweek drink. Yes, that is correct, it is I, Chris: the so-so connoisseur of alcohol-free beverages. I have returned to my post after a well-rested week of fun and festivities, ready to take on 2020 and continue to review new and upcoming drinks for you!
So to kick off the new year, I shall be reviewing for you Lervig No Worries Alcohol Free IPA.
A brief history of Lervig Brewery
Lervig brewery was founded in 2003 in Stavanger, Norway after the Tou brewery relocated to Oslo. In the first couple years since the brewery opened, the brewery continued to brew pilsner as a substitute for the Tou pilsner.
With the guidance of head brewer, Mike Murphy, the brewery finally turned to producing Stouts and IPAs which grew in popularity and helped to put the brewery on RateBeer’s list of the Top 100 brewers in 2014.
Three senses and a beverage
The ingredients used are: water, barley/wheat malt, hops, yeast.
Lervig No Worries is an alcohol free IPA (0.5%) and is sold in a 330ml can that has quite a bizarre artwork that definitely stands out from everything else in its radius.
When you go to crack open this IPA into a glass, a hazy, peach colour with a soft, frothy white head begins to fill up the glass in a smooth motion. For the aroma, you begin to get whiffs of tropical fruits (mostly, peach) blended nicely with notes of hops. And for the taste, it starts off with a refreshing tropical fruitiness, finishing off with a slightly bitter, dry finish.
